The Quaker Valley Sports Hall of Fame committee is proud to announce the class of 2025. The class will be inducted on October 19, following a weekend of activities which begins with a tailgate and recognition at the Quaker Valley football game on October 17.
The class of 2025 continues in the tradition of recognizing outstanding individual athletes and teams. This year’s class includes LJ Westwood (track/cross country), Dorian Goosby Dean (athlete), Derek Molitor (football and track), Colin South (Hockey), and the 2012 Hockey Team.
L.J Westwood, Quaker Valley Class of 2012, left a legacy as one of the most accomplished runners in the history of Quaker Valley Cross Country and Track. In Cross Country, LJ was a part of three WPIAL Championship teams (2009-2011), a PIAA runner-up and his 2011 team was the PIAA Champion. He was the 2010 WPIAL individual champion. His success carried over to the track where he was a five-time WPIAL gold medalist and a four-time PIAA gold medalist, setting a school record and a WPIAL record in the 800m and was part of a 4x800 meter relay team that was named to the National Federation Honor Roll while setting a school and WPIAL records in that event. He was a member of the 4x800 meter relay which won three consecutive WPIAL championships, and back-to-back PIAA championships that set a standard for that event that continues to this day at Quaker Valley.
Dorian Goosby Dean, a 2009 QV graduate, was an all-around outstanding athlete during his time at Quaker Valley. He was a four-time letterman in Track and Field, and Football and three-time in Basketball. While his performance in all sports was outstanding, it was track and field where he really shined. A four-time state Track and Field qualifier. Goosby-Dean earned three state medals, two individual WPIAL championships, and qualified for the WPIAL individual championships all four years in school. Demonstrating unmatched consistency, Goosby-Dean never placed below first in sectional meets for the Triple and High Jumps between 2006-2009. He was a ten-time Invitational MVP at prestigious events, including Mars, the MAC Championships, the Center, Baldwin, and South Fayette invitationals, achieving a “Double-Triple Crown” with three gold medals and breaking three meet records in the Triple, Long, and High Jump at the South Fayette Invitational. Goosby-Dean broke Quaker Valley’s Triple Jump record in 2008. He has the most career points in Quaker Valley’s storied track and field history. Dorian Goosby-Dean has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest athletes in school history.
Derek Molitor is a 1998 graduate of Quaker Valley and was an outstanding two-sport athlete, excelling in football and track and field. In football, Derek was a four-year letterman who was the team captain from 1995-1997. He was named to the Fabulous 22 PG North in 1996 and 1997 as a Running Back and named to the Three Rivers Conference all-conference team in 1996 and 1997 as a running back and as a defensive back. In 1997 he was named the Three River Conference Co-Offensive MVP. He graduated as Quaker Valley’s all-time leading rusher and was selected to play in the 1998 Penn-Ohio football game as a defensive back. He is a proud member of the 1996 QV Football playoff team, one year removed from the 0-10 1995 season and was the 1997 Andy Shulick Award winner for outstanding leadership. On the track, Derek was a four-year letterman and a member of the 1996 and 1997 WPIAL Championship teams. He competed in eight different events for those teams, showing his diversity and contribution to those winning teams. Derek went on to play football at Case Western Reserve University following his outstanding career at Quaker Valley.
Colin South, a 2009 graduate of Quaker Valley, was a four-year letter winner in hockey and four-year member of the golf team. As a freshman, he was a member of the 2006 State Championship hockey team, where he played with his brother, Furman, a 2023 QV Hall of Fame inductee. In the State Final, Colin scored a hattrick to help defeat Penncrest and win the state championship. Colin was also a member of the 2008 Penguins Cup Championship team and served as Captain during his senior year. He was an all-star in 2009 and played for Team Pittsburgh, a team composed of the top high school players in the Pittsburgh area. He went on to play NCAA Division I hockey at Robert Morris University, where he served as Captain and played in the 2014 NCAA tournament.
The 2011-2012 Quaker Valley Varsity Hockey Team was the second team in Quaker Valley History to win the Pennsylvania State Championship. The Quakers beat Mars in the Penguin Cup Final by a score of 4-2. They followed the Penguin Cup win with a 4-1 win over Flyers Cup Champion Bayard-Rustin to win the State Championship. The Quakers were led by Seniors Forwards Kevin Kenny, Jayson Lottes and Luke O’Neill. Behind solid goaltending (Doug Revak) and defensemen Jake Pilewicz, Ryan Lottes, Alex Quinn, Stephen Wei, Adam Pilewicz the Quakers allowed just 3 total goals in the Championship games. During their 4-0 playoff run, the Quakers were led by underclassmen forwards Ryan Dickson who had 5 goals in the playoffs including 2 in the Penguin Cup Final. Clayton Bouchard was a key forward during the run, scoring in each of the four playoff games. Jimmy Perkins (2) and Otto Schaefer (3) helped round out the playoff scoring. Solid contributions also came from sophomore forwards Cameron Peterkin, Scott Weston, Kurt Mohr, Adam Stanley, Colin Streiff and Avery Montague. Goaltenders Parker Sherry and Jonathan Pijar won 10 games helping Quaker Valley to an overall record of 23-2-2. The 2012 team also included Freshmen Hunter Wolz and Trenton Ruprecht.
