On Wednesday, the Girls Track & Field Team traveled to South Park High School to compete in a Girls AA WPIAL Playoff Meet against 4 other schools (South Park, Waynesburg, Southmoreland, and Brownsville).
The girls team came out victorious due to many notable performances. One of the biggest highlights came in the last event when Senior Ainsley Commens broke her own school record in Pole Vault with a vault of 9 feet 8 inches. Ainsley ended up finishing first overall in the event. Other first overall finishers were Nora Johns (300 hurdles), Ellie Cain (800m), Kwilai Karto (200m) and the 4x800m relay team consisting of Anna Cohen, Zoey Murawski, Emily Bablak, and Kate Hines. We had several other personal bests, season bests, and great overall performances by athletes. Great job and good luck next week ladies!
All 25 girls that traveled with the team competed and contributed to the final outcome. In the end, the girls defeated all 4 schools including the hosting team, South Park High School. The competition against South Park and Southmoreland came down to the last event and therefore ended in a very close final scores of QV 79 - SP 71 and QV 79 - Southmoreland 71. Due to this victory, the girls will travel to Peters Township High School next week to compete in the AA WPIAL Team Championships. Congratulations ladies!
