Apr 28, 2021

The boys' team started the meet off strong with Junior Kadin Johnson and Sophomore Noah Leathers making it to the finals in the 100m dash and 110m hurdles respectively.  In the finals, both individuals placed 3rd overall and will continue racing this season at the Baldwin Invitational next Friday.  Sophomore Alex MacDonald will be joining them at Baldwin after placing 1st in Discus with a personal best throw of 127' 2". Other athletes who placed at the meet were Sophomore Eric Weicht, 3rd place in Triple Jump, and Freshman Matthew Otto, 4th place in the 1600m run.

On the girls' side, Senior Claire Kuzma continued her successful career at Quaker Valley taking 1st place in both the Shot Put and the Discus.  Both of Claire's throws surpassed the state qualifying standard and are both exactly 6 inches off from the Quaker Valley school record!  The girls' success did not stop there.  Sophomore Nora Johns came from behind to clench a nail-biting 1st place in the 300m hurdles.  Nora's time is 3rd all-time in Quaker Valley history!  Junior Anna Cohen (400m), Junior Ainsley Commens (Pole Vault), and Freshman Ellie Cain (800m) all took 2nd place in their events, while the 4x800m relay team of Cohen, Szuba, Hines, and Cain took 3rd place overall.   In the final event of the evening, the girls finished strong with a 1st place finish in the 4x400m relay, and the team consisted of Senior Francesca Courtney, Freshman Ellie Cain, Junior Anna Cohen, and Sophomore Nora Johns.  Their time of 4:08.41 is 6th all-time in Quaker Valley history and meets the state qualifying standard!  After compiling the two meets together, our girls' team finished runners up at the meet out of 18 schools.

I am very happy with the performances of our athletes yesterday and all season.  The combined results of our meet can be viewed at THIS LINK
