Yesterday, the Quaker Valley Track & Field Team traveled to South Park High School for a playoff meet and had a truly historic day.  The girls' team won all 3 of their meets with final scores of QV 88 - Derry 62, QV 100 - South Park 50, QV 116 - Freedom 34.  The boys' team also won all 3 of their meets with final scores of QV 89 - South Park 61, QV 120 - Derry 30, QV 130 - East Allegheny 20.  We also had 4 individuals and 1 relay team make the Quaker Valley top 5 all-time record board in addition to 3 athletes improving their placement of the board.

Due to the success yesterday, we will travel to Peters Township for the WPIAL Team Championship Meet next Tuesday 5/7.  Our girls will be defending their WPIAL championship, going for 3 in a row, and the boys hope to capture their first WPIAL championship since 1998.

Please congratulate Thomas Debelak for setting a NEW SCHOOL RECORD in Triple Jump with a jump of 45-9.25!  Prior to this jump, Thomas was 6 inches outside of the top 5.  We also had a SCHOOL RECORD improvement in Pole Vault by both Sarah Minard and Evie Rosselli, both clearing 10-9. Macky Gartley also improved his standing in the 300m hurdles to 2nd all-time with his time of 39.66.  With a time of 49.43, the girls 4x100m relay team of Vanessa Pickett, Kwilai, Karto, Zora Washington, and Jay Olawaiye moved into 3rd all-time in QV history.  Kwilai Karto also made the school record board for the first time in 2 individual events.  Kwilai's 100m dash time of 12.25 is now 4th all-time, while her 200m dash time of 26.00 is now 3rd all-time in school history.   Winston Clifford's high jump of 6-3 is now tied for 4th all-time, Rose Pocasangre's 300m hurdle time of 48.34 is now 5th all-time, and Emma Currier's triple jump of 34-8.25 is not 5th all-time in QV history!

If you have any of these student-athletes in class, please congratulate them as well as the other 60 other competitors yesterday.
