Congratulations to the Girls’ Team for claiming the WPIAL Team Championship Title for the second consecutive year and for the Boys claiming 2nd overall yesterday.     Congrats to Sophomores Jay Olawaiye and Sarah Minard for claiming school records during yesterday’s meet. Jay’s Triple Jump of 39 feet 5.5 inches is a new school record and currently the number 1 Triple Jump mark in the state for AA girls.  Sarah Minard also broke her own school record in Pole Vault (twice) with a final jump of 10 feet 2 inches.  Congratulations Jay and Sarah along with everyone who competed yesterday!   Yesterday, the Quaker Valley Girls' and Boys' Track & Field Teams traveled to Peters Township high School to compete in the WPIAL Team Championship Meet.    The girls team competed against Winchester Thurston, Knoch, and Derry.  The girls were favored going into the meet after winning the WPIAL Championship last season, and they showed up to defend their title, taking first overall in 9 out of 15 individual events and 2 out of the 3 relays. The winning relay teams were Cecilia Montagnese, Lizzie Szuba, Kate Hines, and Ellie Cain in the 4x800m relay and the 4x100m relay team of Zora Washington, Kwilai Karto, Vanessa Pickett, and Nora Johns.  The girls 4x800m relay time of 9:47.30 is now ranked first overall in the WPIAL while the 4x100m relay time of 49.81 is currently 2nd overall in the WPIAL.  The first overall finishers were Ellie Cain (800m, 1600m), Nora John’s (300h), Kwilai Karto (100h), Sarah Minard (Pole Vault), Cecilia Montagnese (3200m), Jay Olawaiye (Triple Jump), and Mia Gartley and Oumou Theiro who tied for first in High Jump. In addition, the girls had top 3 overall finishes by Zoey Murawski (3200m), Amelia Pribik (Javelin), and Olivia Jordan (Pole Vault).  After defeating all 3 schools with final scores of QV 92 – Winchester Thurston 57, QV 100 – Knoch 50, QV 100.5 – Derry 49.5, the Quaker Valley Girls Track & Field Team are now 2-time WPIAL CHAMPIONS.  Congratulations Ladies!   The boys’ team competed against Greensburg Cental Catholic, Shenango, and South Park. The boys had a great showing taking first overall in the 4x800m relay consisting of Tyler Bell, Matt Cohen, Corben Hopkins, and Jackson Pethel.  The boys also had 2 first overall finishes in the meet from Clark LaLomia (1600m), and Tyler Bell (3200m).  Others finishing in the top 3 in the meet were Thomas Debalak (Long Jump, Triple Jump), Timmy Burda (300h), Luke Hotchkiss (800m), Noah Jordan (Pole Vault), Noah Leathers (110h), Alex MacDonald (Discus), Izzy Emerson (200m), Macky Gartley (110h), Jackson Pethel (800m), and River Capek (400m).  At the end of the day, the boys fought hard and defeated Shenango 98 – 54 and South Park 97 – 53, but ultimately lost to Greensburg Central Catholic with a final score of 80 – 70.  As a result, the Quaker Valley Boys Track & Field Team are now WPIAL Runner-ups.  Great job boys!

Congrats to all who competed in the MAC Invitational yesterday.  There were 28 teams present, and our boys team finished 7th overall, while our girls team finished 3rd overall. We had many great performances and brought home 29 total medals!  We also had one performance make the QV All-time record board.  Yesterday, Alex MacDonald's discus throw of 149 feet 2 inches is now 5th All-Time in Quaker Valley history.  Congratulations, Alex! You can access all the result using THIS LINK. Below are the top 6 medaling finishes from yesterday. On the Girl's side, we had all 3 relay teams medal. The 4x100m Relay Team of Zora Washington, Kwilai Karto, Vanessa Pickett, and Nora Johns placed 3rd overall. The 4x800m Relay Team of Cecilia Montagnese, Lizzie Szuba, Emily Bablak, and Kate Hines placed 3rd overall.  The 4x400m Relay Team of Emma Currier, Lizzie Szuba, Kate Hines, and Ellie Cain placed 6th overall. We also had the following individuals medal in their respective events: Nora Johns - 1st place in the 300m hurdles Ellie Cain - 2nd place in the 800m and 3rd place in the 1600m Jay Olawaiye - 2nd place in Triple Jump and 6th place in Long Jump MiMi Thiero - 3rd place in High Jump Sarah Minard - 4th place in Pole Vault Cecilia Montagnese - 5th place in 3200m The boys team also had a lot of success taking 2nd overall in the 4x800m Relay with the team of Luke Hotchkiss, Jackson Pethel, River Capek, and Clark LaLomia.   The boys also earned individual medals from: Noah Leather - 2nd place in the 110 hurdles Alex MacDonald - 2nd place in Discus Clark LaLomia - 5th place in the 800m and 6th place in the 1600m Timmy Burda - 5th place in the 300m hurdles

The Quaker Valley Girls' and Boys' Track & Field Teams hosted a meet against Shady Side Academy, Sewickley Academy, Cornell, and Sto-Rox.  The girls had a very strong showing, taking first place overall in 10 out of 18 events including all 3 relays [4x800m relay - Hines, Cain, Montagnese, Capek, 4x100m relay - Washington, Karto, Elliott, Pribik, and the 4x400m relay - Currier, Cain, Karto, Szuba]. The first overall finishers were Kwilai Karto (100h, 400m), Olivia Jordan (Long Jump), Lea Mauer (Javelin), Jay Olawaiye (Triple Jump),  Sarah Minard (Pole Vault), Amelia Pribik (300h), and Mimi Theiro (High Jump).  The girls had several other athletes finish in the top 3.  Those individuals were Ellie Cain, Saige Capek, Kate Hines, Zora Washington, Emma Currier, Mia Gartley,  Lily Fagan, Hannah Lubert, Mary Anna Blaine, Katherine Main, Cecelia Montagnese, Kendra Hines, and Livia Jobbins. In the end, the girls defeated all 4 schools with final scores of QV 104 - Shady Side Academy 46, QV 134 - Sewickley Academy 16, QV 147 - Cornell 2, QV 149 - Sto-Rox 0.   The boys' team also had a great day!  They were able to take first place overall in all 7 field events, 5 out of 8 track events, and the 4x400m relay [Hotchkiss, Leathers, Cohen, Capek]. The first overall finishers were Gavin Eshenbaugh (Shot, Javelin), Noah Jordan (Long Jump, Pole Vault), Clark LaLomia (1600m, 3200m), Timmy Burda (300h), Noah Leathers (110h), Alex MacDonald (Discus), Thomas Debelak (Triple Jump), Macky Gartley (High Jump), and Ronnie Berry (200m).  The boys also had several others finish in the top 3 overall.  Those individuals were Abe Djedid, Luke Hotchkiss, Jakob Pickett, Jackson Pethel, Tyler Bell,  Nico Cardinale, Aidan Dwyer, and Asher Muretisch. At the end of the day, the boys defeated all 4 schools with final scores of QV 106 - Shady Side 38, QV 135 - Sewickley Academy 14, QV 143 - Cornell 6, QV 149 - Sto-Rox 0.

Yesterday, the Quaker Valley Girls' and Boys' Track & Field Teams traveled to Carlynton for a meet against Carlynton, Sewickley Academy, and Aquinas Academy.  The girls had a very strong showing, taking first place overall in 8 out of 15 individual events and in 2 of the 3 relays.  The first overall finishers were Ellie Cain (1600m, 800m), Kwilai Karto (100h, 400m), Lea Mauer (Javelin), Cecilia Montagnese (3200m), Amelia Pribik (300h), Oumou Theiro (High Jump). The girls also placed first overall in the 4x800m relay - Hines, Bablak, Szuba, Cain and the 4x400m relay - Karto, Hines, Szuba, Cain. In addition, the girls had several other athletes finish in the top 3. Those individuals were Kate Hines, Jay Olawaiye,  Zora Washington, Emma Currier, Lizzie Szuba, Vanessa Pickett, Zoey Murawski, Hannah Lubert, and Breonna Williams.  In the end, the girls defeated all 3 schools with final scores of QV 88 - Carlynton 53, QV 131 - Sewickley Academy 10, QV 134 - Aquinas 7.   The boys' team also had a great day.  They were able to take first place overall in 7 out of 15 individual events and all 3 relay teams.  The first overall finishers were Noah Leathers (110h and 300h), Alex MacDonald (Discus), Matt Cohen (1600m), Clark LaLomia (400m), Jackson Pethel (800m), and Tyler Bell (3200m).  The winning relay teams consisted of 4x800m relay - Hotchkiss, Hopkins, LaLomia, Capek, 4x100m relay - Folabit, Pickett, Emerson, Jordan, and the 4x400m relay - Benge, Capek, Hotchkiss, LaLomia.  The boys also had several others finish in the top 3 overall.  Those individuals were Timmy Burda, Abe Djedid, Izzy Emerson, Macky Gartley, River Capek, and Aidan Dwyer.  At the end of the day, the boys defeated all 3 schools with final scores of QV 85 - Carlynton 56, QV 135 - Sewickley Academy 6, QV 133 - Aquinas 8.
